The Habtoor Leighton Group (HLG) has been awarded a contract valued at AED220 million for the construction and road improvement works at Azizya East for ASHGHAL – Qatar’s Public Works Authority.
Located approximately 9km West of central Doha, Azizya East project involves the construction and improvement works as part of the local roads and drainage programme (LRDP).
HLG, operating as Leighton Contracting (Qatar) WLL, will provide infrastructure, roads, drainage and utilities for approximately 740 residential plots spanning 72 hectares with an internal highway network of roads in varying corridor widths ranging from 16m to 32m. The proposed road network will contain traffic signal controlled junctions, along with a number of simple priority junctions. The total length of road network will be approximately 13.5km.
HLG CEO and Managing Director, José Antonio López-Monís, said that Qatar is a very important market for HLG and this new project proves the strong Group’s presence in the country and its successful work with government entities such as ASHGHAL.
Works commenced in December 2014, with completion anticipated in November 2016.
